Recent family events have given me inspiration for today's post. I hope you will both enjoy it and learn from it.

My favorite Uncle is currently spending some time in a physical rehab center after a major back surgery. It was during one of my visits that we had a conversation about math. My Uncle or "UNK" as I call him, has been a very positive influence in my life from a very young age.

I was visiting him in rehab to encourage him to "do what the Dr. tells you" "don't be stubborn" "you need to eat" and several other choice :-) phrases, in hopes of lifting his spirits. Struggling to speak clearly, he reminded me of something he used to tell me all the time "There's more than one way to get to 5"

You see, I struggled with math. More specifically, I was horrible at it. I know, you might be thinking math? Don't you have to be good at math to figure out all those extreme couponing deals? The answer is yes, you do have to be good at math. But, as I learned through hours of UNK's tutelage, there IS more than one way to get to 5.

Here is what I mean:
5x0+5=5
2+3=5
10-4+5-6=5
5x1=5
Several methods of math all lead to the same answer....5.

While I was very stubborn (I guess it runs in the family) and would argue with him every step of the way about "that's not the way the teacher said to do it" OR "that's not the right way", in the end, I always did get to 5 both his way and my way. There really was more than one way to get to 5....what do you know.

NOW--here's how it all relates to extreme couponing :-)

If you are reading this post, I will assume you are either interested in extreme couponing, already are a couponer or want to learn how to coupon. There are several ways to do this.
You could just watch a TLC episode of Extreme Couponing (maybe that is how you got here) and jump right in. You could just clip a coupon every now and then and save a buck or two at the store. Or you could take some time and learn how to build a stockpile by using coupons effectively.

You will build a stockpile if you are patient. You will save money if you are consistent in your shopping and coupon cutting. You will learn how to coupon if you put some effort in to it. You will be amazed at how a little effort on your part will reduce your grocery bill. All ways will lead to saving, and a nice stockpile.

You will learn how to get to 5, several different ways.

Thanks UNK for the inspiration :-) Be well.
